About This Thong
I’m always intrigued when mainstream or higher-end brands venture into men’s thongs, and Intimissimi kept popping up in my searches. Mainly a retailer of women’s lingerie, they have a small but diverse men’s range
First Impressions
I loved the look of the traditional brief-style front cut and clean back layout. Out of the box, the fabric feels premium and incredibly soft, paired with a strong, high-quality tension stretch.
Comfort and Fit
The Pouch
This is where the design falls flat. The pouch relies on a single lower seam to create its shape, making it quite flat and leaves the top feeling restrictive. Buying a Large (which came under their updated “Iuman” branding) didn’t solve it—the pouch still felt tight and unaccommodating.
I don’t think this is an issue of a thong designed to “point down” and I prefer to “point up”, as when I’ve tried to wear it either way, it still feels off.
The Backstrap
At 3cm wide, I found the rear strap handles pressure well and stays anchored nicely without digging in. The highlight of this model in both sizes, they really did a good job at the back
The Waistband
In Medium, the waist and strap sat secure and tight, but the pouch compressed too much. Moving up to Large loosened the waist and rear strap a bit too much, yet failed to add any meaningful depth to the front.
Everyday Performance
This thong isn’t great for daily wear, the restrictive pouch pinches and squashes, requiring me to readjust regularly. Surprisingly, because of that tight, restrictive pouch, I actually enjoy wearing these for high-movement activities like running and hiking where I want no movement downstairs.
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Incredibly soft, breathable fabric with premium stretch
- Solid 3cm backstrap that sits comfortably
- Locked-in fit makes it great for active use like running and hiking
- Stylish, classic brief-front aesthetics
Cons
- Poorly designed flat pouch that feels restrictive across the top
- Sizing up to Large makes the waistband loose without fixing pouch volume
- High £18 price point for flawed pouch geometry
What I’d Change
They need to give the front pouch a complete overhaul with proper 3D contouring and extra volume. Fixing that single-seam pattern and allowing natural room up front would turn this from an annoying squeeze into a top-tier underwear option.
Final Verdict
This thong is a story of huge missed potential. The cut, soft fabric, and active performance make me want to love it, but until Intimissimi fixes the restrictive pouch geometry, it’s tough to justify £18. If they ever update the pouch design, it could easily become an 8 or 9 out of 10, but I’d only buy another pair if they make that fix.
Overall: 5.5/10
