About This Thong

Kiniki were offering a huge variety of men’s thongs with different cuts and fabrics, so I took it upon myself to try out as many as I could to see what actually works. I picked up the Alex thong in a size Medium for £9 to see their take on the straightforward cotton thong.

First Impressions

Out of the package, it already looked like a solid everyday option. The fabric feels soft and gentle against the skin, though it doesn’t have that ultra-smooth, slick feel of a pure synthetic blend. The material is noticeably thick, so I was worried it would feel bulky.

The first thing I noticed was the 4cm backstrap, which looked noticeably wider than expected for a standard thong, but similar to Kiniki’s usual designs.

Comfort and Fit

The Pouch

Basically perfect. It holds everything securely in place with great support without crushing or feeling restrictive. Kiniki really knows what they’re doing when designing supportive underwear.

The Backstrap

The 4cm width does a fantastic job of distributing pressure evenly between the cheeks so it never feels like it’s digging in. I find it can feel slightly bunchy right toward the top of my butt, but that’s a minor trade-off for the added comfort.

The Waistband

Fits a bit tight, but the lower-rise cut stays anchored without feeling restrictive, and there is zero risk of an accidental whale tail.

Everyday Performance

Sitting, standing, and moving around are completely fine. Even with the bulky material, it still manages to stays low-profile and invisible under standard shorts and trousers. Once it’s on, I found I didn’t need to make any adjustments all day, it just went unnoticed apart from the subtle constant presence of support.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Spot-on pouch: Provides secure support and hold without feeling restrictive or crushing.
  • Beginner-friendly: The wider strap makes it a good choice for those transitioning to wearing thongs.
  • Low-maintenance fit: Stays anchored with zero manual adjustments needed throughout the day.
  • Soft feel: Fabric feels gentle and comfortable against the skin.

Cons

  • Tight waistband: Fits a bit snug around the waist.
  • Slight bunching: The wide 4cm backstrap can occasionally feel bunched.
  • Average breathability: The thick fabric holds onto heat and moisture a bit too much for warmer weather.

What I’d Change

I’d trim the backstrap down slightly from 4cm to 3cm to cut down on the minor bunchiness while keeping the even pressure distribution. Making the fabric a touch more breathable for warmer weather and relaxing the waistband just a bit would make it top-tier.

Final Verdict

This is a fantastic daily driver. The wider strap makes it especially ideal for beginners who want to avoid any digging in sensation. Despite the slightly tight waist and thick fabric, the perfect pouch design and zero-maintenance fit make it a really solid purchase, and I would definitely buy another pair.

Overall: 8.5/10
